Boudoir Morrigan, hunky Ryu, cheeky Maki... Etama's fighting game artwork is absolutely gorgeous

Today we're sharing some fighting game artwork from an artist named Etama, who has a knack for making Capcom characters we've seen countless times look new somehow.

Etama has a clear affinity for Darkstalker's Morrigan Aensland, who pops up a few times in our selection, but also features Ryu, Akuma, Cammy, Sakura, Karin, and more.

Nishikin releases Street Fighter 6 Blanka match up chart

The first major wave of balance changes — which many are referring to as Season 2 — is finally coming to Street Fighter 6 on May 22. We'll undoubtedly be seeing changes for every character on the roster, which should ultimately lead to a very different game and landscape.

Longtime Blanka player who tied for 49th at Evo Japan this year, Nishikin, has crafted a match up chart that helps further paint the picture of how effective the character is as he stands right now.

Capcom shares new screenshot of Akuma on the Street Fighter 6 versus stare down screen and his mane is gigantic

Capcom's Real Battle Hub event is still going on in Japan right now and attendees are getting some time in with Street Fighter 6's next DLC character, Akuma. Unfortunately for those of us who aren't there, this event is not allowing cameras or the posting of images and video of the new build of the game, so tweets reporting changes and things about Akuma are almost all we have to go off of right now as far as new information is concerned.

The one exception to that is Street Fighter 6 Game Director Takayuki Nakayama posting the occasional image of Akuma on his personal Twitter account, and today we have another screenshot and another first look to behold. This time, Nakayama shared what Akuma looks like on the versus stare down screen, and the immediate takeaway is that his mane of hair is actually gigantic.

More than just feet and sex appeal? The whole story behind Juri's meteoric success in Street Fighter

If you type "Why is Street Fighter's Juri so popular?" into a reddit search (making doubly sure your NSFW filters are on first, of course) you'll quickly get the most obvious answers: she's hot, she's got a sexy attitude, and... feet. In essence, she's a waifu that tons of people in the Street Fighter community find attractive to engage with either by playing as her, seeing her story unfold, or appreciating the fan art and cosplays she's so often represented through.

Reddit isn't wrong, but there's a good bit more to the character of Juri than just feet and sex appeal, as plenty of other roster members from over the years have more or less checked these same boxes without hitting anywhere near the same levels of success.

Ed Boon shares image of Kameo Ferra and live action Scorpion in Mortal Kombat 1

The big boss at NetherRealm Studios, Ed Boon, shared some very interesting new images from Mortal Kombat 1 on X today as he introduced us to two upcoming DLC additions: Scorpion in his 1995 film costume and Ferra as a Kameo.

Boon shared three images thus far, though seems to be promising more featuring Sub-Zero in his film threads, which you can view below.

Tokido says it was easier to be good at older fighting games than ones today in interview with Justin Wong

We more or less closed this can of worms a few weeks back when the fighting game community was debating whether modern games take more or less skill to win compared to their older counterparts, but it might be opening again as the legendary Justin Wong brought up the question in a recent interview with the equally legendary Rohto|Tokido.

As one of the five Japanese "gods" of fighting games, Tokido's voice carries a lot of weight and influence in our community. Continue on to see what he had to say about this controversial topic along with plenty of others.

Why Season 3 Abigail might have actually been the most overpowered character in Street Fighter 5 history

Looking back at each season of Street Fighter 5 it's fairly easy to point to a character or two that were clearly a full head and shoulders over their fellow roster mates in terms of balance, but none have as big a head or shoulders as Abigail. As such, we're taking a look at an in-depth argument for his reign at the top during Season 3 being the most egregious example of an overpowered SF5 character (and that's really saying something).

Taking us on this journey is Big Yellow as he highlights why the big bodied autophile was perhaps actually more of a menace than any of the crazy top tiers of Season 1, Rashid in Season 2, or even Luke in the game's final season.

Animator recreates ClayFighter Sculptor's Cut intro with actual claymation and it's just as awesome as you'd imagine

The ClayFighter series is one that has become a cult classic by this point. While they aren't the most polished or competitive fighting games ever made, ClayFighter is a franchise that a lot of us grew up on, which makes it extremely nostalgic.

If you've been following us for a while now here at EventHubs, you might know that I'm a big fan of ClayFighter, and I'm excited to share this particular video with you all today! An animator by the name of Lorenzo Volpintesta has recreated the intro for ClayFighter Sculptor's Cut in real life with actual claymation, portraying some of our favorite clay fighters the way they've always been intended — and it looks awesome.

These mock Street Fighter 6 Season 2 balance changes make JP even more ridiculously strong and please, Nakayama-san, no...

Capcom is currently holding their "Real Battle Hub" event in Japan that is giving attendees the chance to not only try Akuma, the game's next DLC character, for the first time, but also to get their hands on the upcoming Season 2 balance changes as well.

With this being a "no cameras allowed" event, several event goers have been sharing scattered reports on balance changes they've found so far on social media — and there's been some very interesting ones reported. In the spirit of Street Fighter 6 Season 2 balance changes, X_AZEEZ3 put together some mock alterations for JP that make him legitimately busted and overpowered, and we can only hope that SF6 Game Director Takayuki Nakayama doesn't get any ideas from this one...

Tekken 8 falls down US sales rankings but manages to hold on in new NPD charts as Mortal Kombat 1 stays for 7 straight months

Tekken 8 just hit its three month mark since release and appears to be doing pretty well for itself (in terms of making money for Bandai Namco at least).

The NPD Group / Circana finally released the video game sales charts for the United States in March 2024, so we can see how the 3D fighter is still managing to perform in the country along with another major player in the genre hanging on to the ranks.

Capcom comes forward to correct misinformation about the 'one-button Raging Demon' for Akuma in Street Fighter 6

Capcom is currently holding their Real Battle Hub event in Japan that allows attendees an opportunity to play as Akuma in Street Fighter 6 nearly a month before his official release date. The company fully let the cat out of the bag at Evo Japan 2024 where they unveiled Akuma's official gameplay trailer, and after seeing what the demon can do for the first time, fans are now getting their chance to try him out themselves.

There has been a lot of speculation on what Akuma might be capable of in Street Fighter 6, and though we did get a gameplay trailer, there were still some big questions players wanted answers too such as what Modern controls might do for his Raging Demon Critical Art. A lot of fans were under the impression that Modern would grant Akuma a "one-button" Raging Demon — which is an incredibly scary thought — and Capcom has now heard enough people sharing this claim that they have come forward to address it first-hand.

Mortal Kombat 1 mod takes Scorpion back to the past and gives him his classic 1995 movie costume

The developers behind Mortal Kombat 1 just released a classic skin for Sindel that transforms her into her old school Mortal Kombat: Deception self — and it looks fantastic. All the while, modders have been working on other classic looks from the past that probably aren't ones that NetherRealm Studios and Warner Bros. Games would actually want to make.

That being said, it doesn't make these costume mods any less awesome, and in the case of the one we have for you this time, it definitely falls under the "awesome" category. A crafty PC modder named MikeMontyYT put together a new skin mod for Scorpion that makes him look a whole lot like the version of the fiery ninja from the iconic 1995 Mortal Kombat movie.

Why Street Fighter's most powerful attack kind of sucks

Arguably the strongest and undeniably the most badass move in Street Fighter, the Raging Demon, is also one of the franchise's most iconic. The special Super that's most often used by Akuma is said to literally murder the victim's soul, and while animations and the amount of life the maneuver tends to lop off track with that sentiment, its utility leaves something to be desired.

Enter Theory Fighter and his recent examination of the maneuver from the days of Street Fighter Alpha (the first time players could actually use the move). Continue on as Theory Fighter shows us why Raging Demon isn't all its cracked up to be on a more technical level.

Throw loops potentially nerfed a la alleged Season 2 buffs for Street Fighter 6's most underwhelming defensive mechanic

There's a special new build of Street Fighter 6 available for a limited time in Japan and while the lucky local players in attendance are not allowed to record footage or photos, they have been tweeting out changes they think they're seeing as they play.

We already noted a handful of these on Wednesday but more has surfaced on one of the game's major defensive mechanics, Drive Reversal. If true, these changes would make the somewhat lackluster maneuver more effective, specifically against one of the game's most oppressive strategies: throw loops.
