Romantically Apocalyptic Webcomic

Romantically Apocalyptic Webcomic

by Vitaly S Alexius

Charles Snippy finds himself lost and alone at the end of the world. He makes a wish for a friend and meets Zee Captain, an eccentric lunatic luminary, who drags him on an adventure through the eldritch, deadly, questionable and limitless post-apocalyptic world of tomorrow, a place where Goodness makes the rules and everything has purpose and passion.

~A post-apocalyptic, dark comedy webcomic that I've been working on since 2005 by myself at first and then with friends from all around the world.

Untrustworthy Pineapples, and Lemonade Cults

Reviewed at: 268. Infinity

This series has a great overall story, with many intricate details woven into it. The sensical nonsense of it is quite intriguing, as you piece together the events of what happened to get each these details to all fall into place. In addition, the humor of this series is quite odd but extremely amusing nonetheless.

I discovered this comic in 2012 in a computer lab of a school and instantly got hooked on the weirdness of it all. This is a bizzarely unique story with amazing art to complement it leading to a unique experience. The characters have their own backstories and motivations that drive them from one plot point to the next that range from trying to survive to utterly nonsensicle at times but keep you invested.

This story has been years in the making and looks like it can go on for many more years and some panels are downright desktop wallpaper worthy due to the sheer style and detail brimming with awesomeness. Going into joining Snippy on his journey, I could've never guessed where it could take him and how things tend to seem odd at first, but tie together in a way that perfectly makes sense later.

The art itself is on another level, capturing emotion and detail to create realistic environments, but isn't afraid to mix it up when it benefits the story, which with a story as wild as this one can only heighten moments from serious to downright nonsense.

Thank you Vitaly and team for creating what I can call, without a doubt, a masterpiece. And if you're a reader looking at reviews to decide whether you should read it or not, please do yourself a favor and dive in instead of putting it off. This is a ride you don't want to miss.

I absolutely love Romantically Apocalyptic! The art is gorgeous, the story is fascinating, and the characters are lovable. I highly recommend this webcomic to anyone who enjoys post-apocalyptic stories, romance, or just wants a good laugh.
The writing is  witty and the characters are so well developed. I also love how the story is unpredictable.
The style of  the artwork is unique and really helps set the tone of the story. I'm really impressed with how the artist is able to convey so much emotion through the art. It's one of my favorite webcomics and I can't wait to see what happens next.

The story :
I remember when I first found this comic, I thought I'd be in with a rather simple tale of a man surviving in the (Rather futuristic) wastes, but then it hits you, incoherent plots, random events that seem meaningless but might be indicating some major details, or just images that seem like they're from a dream, (which they might actually be), and therein lies the draw, attempting to put together what few pieces of coherent and organized events into an actual timeline, which might all exist in a larger scale universe with lore that slowly reveals itself through mild hints and background locations. So if you're interested in reading this comic, then know there will be a place for attempting to brainstorm what the cryptic comics convey, and possibly coming out with a conclusion.
The art :
It is of quite good quality, of the cybergothic genre, used with a mixture of special effects and real life objects (making a real life cross using cardboard and then editing it to becoming a scene where someone is being crucified). Plenty of work was put into it, and it didn't go to waste.
The music :
Created to fit the theme of the comics, and it succeeds at accomplishing its aim, it is also of solid quality, and assists in keeping the reader engaged through longer and more mundane scenes.
Overall conclusion :
10/10, would get mindblown again.

Despite the Title, This Isn't a Romance Story

Reviewed at: 196. TreEvolution

Overall Score: 10/10

This story follows the adventures of Charles Snippy, Dead Zone Tour Guide and the self proclaimed "Last Sane Human on Earth", and his attempts to survive in the barren wasteland covered in technological monstrosities that resulted from the near-extinction of the human race.

At least, that's how he sees it.

Luckily he's not the only survivor, although maybe it would be better for his sanity if he was. He joins up with Zee Captain, who seems undisturbed by the collapse of civilization and keeps going on about fairies, magic, and the like.

Style Score: 10/10

The art is one of the best parts of the story, almost every single panel makes for excellent computer wallpaper, they have a nice mix of realism and blurriness that I really like.

Story Score: 10/10

Excellent storytelling.

It reminds me of Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, regularly dealing out laughs and nonsensical situations in ways that seem like they make perfect sense with the way they are explained

Grammar Score: 10/10

It has no unintentional spelling or grammar errors I can remember.

Character Score: 10/10

Each character is very unique and interesting in their own way, their personalities contrast with each other and interact in interesting ways.

TL:DR

Great comedy, Interesting Characters, Exellent art

A constantly evolving story, that allows you to re-read it over and over again. Its just plain fun, and I always enjoy seeing story come to fruition, and seeing little tidbits that were there beforehand, and the new things that appear in later versions, or 'cycles', if you will. I also enjoy the connection to Alexius' other stories. For those who are just joining and reading, i feel sincerely sorry for you, who never got to see the original story, from a lighthearted tale of a man with his two mad companions, to a story of the downfall of a civilization, to a story of a changed world that challes cannot see. truly a must-read.

I loved it, I love it, I will love it.

Reviewed at: 46. In which I am ambushed

This newest rendition of the classic webcomic Romantically Apocalyptic is a most sweet treat for fans both new and old alike, with enough new content to satisfy those already caught up with the story, and a totally unique world too fantastic for anyone to pass up.

Follow Charles Snippy's adventures with his zany friends Pilot, Engie, and of course, Zee Captain (& more!) as he wrestles with a world that's going crazy faster than anyone in his squad is.

RA is a story that not only subverts the common laws of a post-nuclear story, but then goes a step further to write its own.

No need to worry about whether Snippy will find food for the night, but what strange punishment will he get from our System Wizard this time when he finds out about the sacred laws of Captania are being broken before his very eyes?

Pay little mind to how our protagonist will fare against his militant captors, but rather how he'll fare against the giant interdimensional spider made up of flesh and lawyers that's just assimilated them/

Of course, environmental hazards like radiation and weather still exist, but don't let that distract you from the screeching traffic lights, centipede-buses and passive-aggressive pet rocks!

With characters so charismatic, visuals so beautiful, and writing so unique, it's hard not to fall in love within the first few chapters.

So what are you waiting for? Stop reading this review and start reading Romantically Apocalyptic! Zee Captain demands it!

When you hear the title "Romantically apocalyptic," there will be people who say, "What's that?" When you hear the title "Romantically apocalyptic," there will be people who say, "What's that?" Some people may think it's a piece of work, but it's not a piece to be seen like that. Even though it looks dizzy and confusing because it's messy and twisted, it's actually very concise, organized, and sometimes elegant. The confused and dizzy situation due to the existence of the main character named Snippy touches the reader that much, and the confusion gradually decreases. If it weren't for Snippy and his monologue, it would have been just such a confusing American work. By making the normal person the main character, the composition of this work is created and the completeness is increased.

There is a sense of familiarity, but there is a sense of separation, and there is something to say about the main character's colleagues, not the neat and clean design. They are often seen as mad, sometimes not as clean as they look, or as moral.
However, the main characters' colleagues' deeds stand out not simply because they do something crazy. This is because their numerous aspects were very interesting to deal with in the work as they intertwined with the main character. It doesn't just deal with gag, but it really plays a big role in dealing with big bait in the second half. Usually, in the post-apocalypse genre, many works are gas masks, Japanese katana, future weapons, or scrap weapons. I only think of simple basic concepts like this. This work is well wrapped by mixing the concept of the future era with post-apocalypse.

The view of the world that zee captain, a colleague of the main character and another main character, sees is very beautiful and elegant. However, the reality that the actual protagonist of the work, Snippy, sees is disastrous, disorderly, and very hopeless. This graphic noble expresses the process of narrowing the difference in perspective between these two people and uniting into one. It seems that the true value of this work is even more displayed because it is not known where the end of this work, which deals with the story of the world where elegant destruction has come, will be directed.

A great story I read a few years ago. Then there was a long break. Now, having accidentally met a mention on the Internet, I decided to reread it. I was pleasantly surprised to learn that the author improves old images.

An interesting original story and atmosphere makes Romantically Apocalyptic an exciting adventure. The images visualize the environment of this world and its characters well. The characters are amazing and unusual, it's interesting to follow them.

The comic I can recommend is 5/5

This is a very, very well illustrated story. The art itself  just blows me away and each frame is masterfully crafted. The actual story itself is pretty chaotic but is still really interesting. It feels like a cosmic horror, comedy, Si-Fi, post-apocalyptic and dystopian story all blended into one lucid brew.

The characters are all unique and interesting and feel like actual people, albeit slightly (or extremely) mentally deranged. Even the side characters have their own mini story arcs. Many of which connect to each other like an interwoven web, making the world feel genuinely real and lived in. The world building is amazing. It is gradually developed chapter by chapter into something totally unique and beautiful yet utterly alien and terrifying at the same time. The style is, in my opinion, the highlight of the story. It feels like a graphic novel crossed with an actual novel into something truly one of a kind.

The grammar is well done and I have not been able to find any mistakes.

There is pretty much nothing like this story on royal road and it is an amazing one. Definitely recommend. It deserves way more views than it's currently getting
