Go 50 for ALS
Our dear longtime friend Peggy Plews-Ogan, along with her family and friends, are hosting a fundraiser in honor of her husband Jim who has ALS. The fundraiser is called “Go 50 for ALS” and the rules are both fun and simple: Run or Walk “50” anything (50 miles, 50K, 50 times around your neighborhood loop, etc.) between today and May 11th and send a donation of whatever amount you like. Jim is a beloved neighbor to so many in our community and I had the pleasure of teaching his two kids Sunday School throughout their high school years. His ALS has advanced but he is still going to take 50 steps this week!
Ragged Mountain has formed a team and our family would love for all of YOU to be a part of it. We’ve come up with three options to get in your “50”:
-Option 1: meet me at the UVa track THIS Wednesday at 6:00am. I’m hoping 50 of you will show up (please) so we can have 50 of or crew (or more) run 50 x 50 meters (continuously), which amounts to 2500 meters (about 6 laps total). Piece of cake for you all! This would mean SO much to me personally to have you come out to do this, even if it’s in the middle of your AHR run. Please come join us.
-Option 2: Run or Walk 50 miles or 50K (32 miles) total this week.
-Option 3: Come up with your own creative way to go “50”. Even if you’re injured, simply take 50 steps and then donate.
Regardless of what you choose to do, we want you to signup (see link) and join Team Ragged Mountain. Our goal is to raise $5000 for this most worthy cause, which with our crew of friends and athletes we should be able to go beyond! Again, whatever amount you donate would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks, friends!
