2024-04-06 – 04-07 – Greg Pak at FanfaireNYC!

Fanfaire NYC promotional art featuring a picture of comic book writer Greg Pak along with the text "fanfairenyc" and "April 6-7 2024"

Hey, NYC! I’ll be tabling and doing panels at FanfaireNYC at the High School of Art & Design on April 6 and 7! Come see, come see!

This is a very fun local con run by a New York City public school that I did for the first time last year. The artist alley features both high school students and local pros, and it’s a total blast. Hope to see you there!

Check out these amazing designs of Eris and Sung from Diego Galindo! So much character in just these sketches!

Diego Galindo's character designs for Eris from LAWFUL as both a little girl and a young adult. Eris is white with orange hair; as a kid she's got a cat tail and is wearing a shirt with a heart stitched onto it; as an adult she's got horns and a cheetah tail and paw and wears a leather jacket with a flaming heart on it. Lots of cheeky attitude.

Diego Galindo's character designs for Sung from LAWFUL as a young kid and a young adult. Sung is an Asian male. As a kid, he's wearing baggy, hand stitched shirt and pants with a kind of cape; as an adult, he's wearing similar clothes but is also carrying a satchel. Tentative smile as a child; wary look as an adult.

LAWFUL is one of the most personal and fantastical stories I've ever written. There's a lot in there about my specific Asian American experience growing up in the 1980s and that only semi-conscious, desperate feeling that following the rules to the letter will provide safety. And there are monsters.

"Imagine a chunk of a big city ripped from Earth in the 1980s, set down on a fantastical planet, and cursed with one simple spell: every time you break a rule, you turn a bit more into a monster. Now jump forward 75 years and let's see what happens."

LAWFUL #1 cover by Qistina Khalidah. Featuring two young people on a rock before a weird walled city. The character in the foreground is a crouching Asian male with a kind of scarf and a satchel and a wary expression. The character standing behind him is a white woman with horns and a cheetah tail and paw and black leather jacket and a small smile.
