Black Dough Göteborg Black Dough are current and former jazz musicians playing experimental rock. The band has since they started in 2013 been figuring in the outskirts of the jazz genre, sometimes described as grunge, punk, voodoo rock or dark Nordic jazz. Miranda Raeder is the brain behind the band, she writes all the music and lyrics, sings and plays guitar. Apart from Miranda there is William Soovik on drums, Elias Hällqvist on bass and Erik Boman on saxophone, guitar, synth and noise. Their debut EP "first punch!" was released in 2013. ”Explosive, dark, mystical music from Sweden with a grunge heart and vocals that evoke PJ Harvey tinged with Björk. Gothenburg's Black Dough mixes Peter Brötzman-like skronk jazz with a punk-rock energy & aesthetic, creating a sound that is immersive and open. - 12 Points Festival ”Imagine Bjork fronting Black Sabbath in lieu of Ozzy Osbourne and you get close to the brooding and explosive atmosphere of the music.” - Ian Patterson, allaboutjazz.com In 2015 Black Dough were chosen to represent Sweden at the 12 Points Festival held in Dublin, the festival picks out young and uprising bands, one from each of the 12 countries. Quickly after that the band was booked and traveled to Morocco to play at the 20th anniversary of Jazz Au Chellah, a festival held in a ruin in Rabat. During 2016 their primary focus has been on recording their debut album, which will be released during the spring of 2017.
