The Royal Hospital Chelsea is thrilled to announce the launch of our new digital collection on the My House of Memories app. The My House of Memories app was created by House of Memories, National Museums Liverpool’s dementia awareness programme, by and for people living with dementia.

This International Women’s Day, we are celebrating the incredible women who have served and continue to serve in the British Army. To recognise their contribution, we hear from some of our female Chelsea Pensioners about their time in the Army.

Chelsea Pensioner, Barry, enlisted in the Army in November 1964. Barry’s journey through the ranks in the British Army spans over two decades and he shares more on his time in the Army and life in retirement as a Chelsea Pensioner.

We are delighted to receive accreditation to the Veteran Aware NHS initiative. Professor Tim Briggs CBE, Chair of Veterans Covenant Healthcare Alliance, presented the Governor of the Royal Hospital, General Sir Adrian Bradshaw, KCB OBE DL, with the Royal Hospital accreditation at our Chelsea Veteran Outreach event yesterday.

Chelsea Pensioner, Peter, was a seaman in the Martime Regiment when he served in the Falkland Islands in 1982. Now, 42 years later, Peter voyaged back to the Island and reflects on his return visit and time spent there in the Army.

At the end of last year, Chelsea Pensioners John and Angus embarked on a trip to Hawaii and the United States of America as a visit of Remembrance. We caught up with them to find out how their trip went.

John Humphreys OBE DL celebrated his 102nd birthday this month. He visited the Royal Engineers Musuem where he was given a tour of the Barracks and Museum, and was renunited with the commando knife he used to escape his second capture during the Second World War.

There are many benefits to leading an active lifestyle. We caught up with some of the Chelsea Pensioners to find out more about what activities they are involved in and how this benefits their health and wellbeing.
