Romoval of Condition - how long does it usually take?

Recommended Posts

Is there anybody filed for 10-year greencard in May, 2012? Have you received your 10-year GreenCard?

I had my fingerprint taken on 06/04/12 and since then, I have not heard anything....

My two-year GreenCard is going to expire by the end of July, so I can not get my license without the new 10-year GreenCard (they won't give me 4-year driver's license)

I did check the status on-line, it says " initial review" which does not tell anything....

I just wonder how long does it usually take to receive the 10-year GreenCard?

Any help is appreciated

Thanks,

Ruby

When we did removal of conditions it was 4 months after the fingerprints. However Lawful Permanent Residency status dose NOT end when the 2 year card expires, USCIS will issue a receipt letter that is used to prove an additional 1 year or residency, bring this letter to the DMV and they should issue a DL valid to at least to the date indicated on the I-751 receipt letter. In some cases it can take upward to a year or even longer for removal of conditions. I have seen some simply file the N-400 at 3 years or residency for citizenship even with removal of conditions pending, this tends to get them to do something with a stalled ROC.

If DMV has an issue with that, I would simply schedule an info-pass appointment to the USCIS field office, and let them know having issues with DMV and they should stamp passport with a 1 year I-551 stamp, you can then take this to DMV and get License extended.

We filed the I-751 in March and are still waiting. My wife got her drivers license, they had initially had the license expiration date the same as the 2 year greencard expiration. We brought the I-751 receipt letter when she passed the test to change the date and they had problems trying to change the DL expiration date. When we received the wife's DL we found that the date was not changed and expired 5 days later.

Now waiting on the 10 yr greencard before we go back to have it changed and probably pay the extra $25.

My wife has her ten year card and we got that within 4 months as I recall.

We are waiting on the ten year green card for my stepson and I believe we are getting close. We filed on September 9th, 2011 and still haven't gotten any farther then the biometrics and the case status is "in review".

When we look online at the processing times for I-751 in Vermont it shows they are now up to August 22nd, 2011 so hopefully it won't be much longer......

Be prepared to wait if it goes to Vermont!

I got my driver's license now, without 10-year Greencard in hand. Thanks, everybody... :)

Filed in November just after Thanksgiving (Vermont). Haven't heard a word. Status is still in "processing". Hope to hear something by mid Autumn.

I believe the #1 thing for Chinese immigrants to the USA to get used to for life here in the USA is the pace of life. I gather things move along at a reasonably consistent pace in China. In the USA, get used to "hurry up, then wait" "Go, go, go" then "slow, slow slow"

You rush to get your paperwork to the government , then wait a year fro them to review it. The pace of government moves very slow here. It is what it is.

Old English proverb is "patience is a virtue" Must have been referring to dealing with the government.

Calm down, totally forget about it, rest up for another 10 months and enjoy your time together. One day in early to mid 2013, you will get a pleasant (or when they lose the stuff you submitted like they did with our stuff 3 times already- unpleasant) surprise. Then just send them a copy of your backup paperwork file and proof of original mailing that you learned to keep by reading this website and eventually your stuff will be approved. :)
