Crystal Castles

the arcade game's (un) official web page

Crystal Castles: a top player's guide   This is an article I was commissioned to write for Top Score newsletter, which is now defunct (and which eventually turned into a Nintendo mag).  Keep in mind that, since it was written in 1986, some of the information about me, and my game-play, is not up to date.

Crystal Castles - the booklet   This is a detailed booklet on all things Crystal.  I wrote it for the above article, so that anyone interested in lots of interesting information on the game, and details on my exact world-record patterns, could buy it through Top Score.  As to how much it covers, well, if it's not in here, it's not worth reading about...

FGS strikes back   Here are the details on how my friend Frank Seay, who I taught to play Crystal, eventually beat my world record score.  He did it in not one, but two different ways, and the fact that neither of us considered playing the way he innovated, until we had nearly maxed out playing from 8/1 up, is a most interesting tale...

Franz X. Lanzinger   Yes, the name's for real.  He is the genius behind the design and programming of CC.  This is a picture of him playing his personal game, at his California home, that I took while on a trip to California in 1986.

Crystal Castles sales flyer   Here's the full-color brochure that the coin-op venders used to make a sale on the latest and greatest coin-op...

Crystal Castles Hall of Fame   So you want to see the scores ??  Well, here's the place to be !  Not only do you get an incredible (and rare) view of a stacked and packed high score table, but you can also lay your eyes on a top three that has a 904K score as the lowest of the bunch...

Video highlights   Now, pictures are great, and seeing shots of world record scores is even greater, but... what's the greatest of all ??  Why, videos of world-class play, of course !  I've posted a clip of a 900K game (taped over 20 years ago !) on the website for your enjoyment, plus you can see a whole lot more on DVD.  You get the segment shown here in full-size and quality, plus an additional set of four longer clips (and a bonus vid of Food Fight), on my incredible video production - Crystal Castles - the DVD.
